We already know what Carson Palmer brings to the table—a high volume of attempts and interceptions—and the Raiders haven't been winning with him behind center.
During the past four games—all of which the Raiders lost in embarrassing fashion—Palmer has started regressing, throwing nine touchdowns and seven interceptions.
His ability to spread the ball around has been impressive all year, but the fact of the matter is that the Raiders offense is predictable and doesn't threaten opposing defenses with him behind center.
That wouldn't be the case with Pryor, who possesses similar abilities to guys like Colin Kaepernick, Jake Locker, Robert Griffin III and Russell Wilson.
I'm not suggesting that Pryor will be as successful as the young men I just compared him to. The entire Raiders team is full of question marks, and Pryor will be hard pressed to win, just like Palmer.
That said, there's no better time to throw him into the fray and see if he has the skills and mental capacity to make something happen against NFL teams during the regular season.
Reggie McKenzie has some serious decisions to make in the immediate future about the direction the franchise needs to take, and he needs to figure out if Pryor is the right quarterback to lead the team for the next 10 years.
We all know that Pryor possesses elite athleticism, a cannon for an arm and electric play-making skills.
The Raiders need to figure out if he's ready to take the next step and become the face of the franchise or if he's just another athletic kid who can sling the ball. If he's the man for the job, then McKenzie can draft players to build around him.
