Sio Moore: How Will Raiders’ Newest Linebacker Fare in the Pros?

With the 66th pick in the draft, the Oakland Raiders select Connecticut linebacker Sio Moore.

Moore will be brought in to compete for a starting job in the Raiders revamped defensive front seven.

Pro Outlook

Moore is an impressive athlete and will have a chance to win a starting job in Oakland, likely at the weak-side linebacker position.

His strength is his read-and-react ability, and if he adds some strength, he could develop into a quality run defender.

He's slightly undersized, but in today's NFL more teams are interested in finding the athletic read-and-react linebackers and Moore fits that profile perfectly.

Roster Outlook

The Raiders have completely overhauled their defensive front seven, so it's tough to know how Moore will fit in with all the new faces.

He is a prototypical weak-side linebacker and should compete with Kevin Burnett, Nick Roach and Miles Burris for playing time.

If he fails to win a starting job, Moore should make an immediate impact on special teams

Pick Analysis

This isn't a particularly exciting pick, but the Raiders have so many holes on both sides of the ball that they simply needed to add talent. There were better players on the board, but Moore was a viable option and definitely fills a need.

If he doesn't win a starting job immediately, he should at least see playing time and eventually work his way into a starting role.

Grade: B+
