Raiders-Texans: At 1-2 Raiders Must Defeat Texans…Enter the Raider Defense

The 2010 Oakland Raider defense is very close to perfection. This finely tuned team of athletes has shown that it can be the best of the AFC West. The offense is still having issues and this can only be resolved by practice.

At 1-2 the Raiders have proven that they can contain the run (i.e. Chris Johnson) and Steven Jackson. Bruce Gradkowski moves the ball down field quickly. The problem for the Raiders is scoring in the red zone. The Oakland Raiders definitely have the weapons needed to score so better play-calling would be helpful.

The Raiders now face the Houston Texans after playing defensive games against the Tennessee Titans and the St. Louis Rams. The new defense should have no problem containing the QB and the RBs.The addition of Tyvon Branch, Kamerion Wimbley, Richard Seymour and Rolando McClain has proven successful for the silver and black

It will be the Raiders defensive front that shuts down the passing ability of QB Matt Schaub. It is tough to run against the Oakland Raiders and when passing, the Raiders have the NFL's best CB in Nnamndi Asomugha.

An example of wide reciever frustration was shown by opponent Larry Fitzgerald as Asomugha shut down his game.

After losing to the Arizona Cardinals 24-23 the Oakland Raiders should be ready to play to perfection against the Texans. In fact, the Oakland Raiders must dominate this game from the start and that means getting TDs.They cannot afford to lose this game and sink into a hole. The Raiders will soon have to play divisional teams and should be able to defeat all three and regain the AFC West title. This is, after all, what coach Tom Cable has been promoting.

I highly doubt that Sebastian Janikowski will miss any more field goals after the loss last week. But then again...the Raiders cannot rely on kicks and must score with every red-zone opportunity.
