Raiders’ Cooper Records 3rd 100-Yard Receiving Game in 6 Tries

Oakland Raiders wide receiver Amari Cooper topped 100 receiving yards for the third time this year in Sunday's 37-29 win over the San Diego Chargers, making him the first rookie since Mike Ditka in 1961 to hit the 100-yard mark in three of his team's first six games of the season, per Elias Sports Bureau (via ESPN Stats & Info).

Cooper, the third overall pick in the 2015 NFL draft, had his finest performance to date in Week 7, catching five passes for 133 yards and a touchdown despite drawing just six targets.

He was especially dominant in the second quarter, first catching a jump ball for a 44-yard gain on a 3rd-and-14 to set up an eventual field goal, then taking a screen pass for a 52-yard touchdown on the next drive.

Now on pace to catch 88 passes for 1,384 yards and eight touchdowns on a modest 133 targets, Cooper leads the rookie class in every major receiving category, even though his Raiders already had their bye week.

Though he doesn't quite have the volume to rank among the overall league leaders, the 21-year-old hasn't lacked for efficiency, averaging a lofty 10.4 yards per target and 2.4 yards per route run, per Pro Football Focus.

Sunday's big performance certainly helped, but Cooper has also been impressively consistent, with four or more catches and 47 or more receiving yards in each of his first six NFL games.
