In acquiring Jason Campbell, the Raiders have seriously upgraded their biggest weakness and insured that the upgrades made to the defense will not go to waste. Campbell is a solid NFL starter coming off his best season, one in which he led the league in Red Zone passing throwing 18 TDs and 0 INTs inside the twenty.
Campbell is accurate, mobile, and has never thrown more interceptions than touchdowns in any season. He now will get a chance to work with Hue Jackson and a group of young but talented play-makers. It could be argued that his supporting cast is actually much better than he had in Washington.
Campbell has shown he can be adaptable to any offensive system, as he's been in a different one every year going back to his collegiate career at Auburn. He's also proven he can produce under less than ideal circumstances, throwing 20 touchdown passes last year despite taking a beating playing behind one of the worst offensive lines in football.
Campbell is still young and probably has his best football ahead of him. The Raiders are fortunate he became available for such a cheap price.
The Raiders had an extremely good draft, filling several major needs and upgrading talent on both sides of the ball. Campbell is the icing on the cake.
Tom Cable said the Raiders could have been a playoff team last year with solid quarterback play and I believe him. The Raiders will get that from Jason Campbell.
It's a quarterback driven league and the Raiders now have one. In J.C. we trust!
