Oakland Raiders Rumors: Jacoby Ford to Get Start Over Darrius Heyward-Bey?

It has been rumored that rookie Jacoby Ford may start over second year receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey. Coach Tom Cable would be making the right move as Ford has been more productive in his rookie year than Heyward-Bey has been in almost two seasons.

The rumor has been spreading among Oakland beat writers that Ford would take over, but nothing is certain yet.

Coach Tom Cable was asked if Heyward-Bey would be the starter this Sunday at San Diego, and Cable was unsure who the starter would be.

Cable indicated that the starter may be the one who is most healthy.

Ford or Heyward-Bey have not been on the injury report, but the wise move would be to start the more productive player, which is the fourth round pick from Clemson.

In his first year, Ford has surpasses Heyward-Bey's numbers from his rookie season.

Ford has 16 receptions for 320 yards and a touchdown, including two 100-yard games. Heyward-Bey caught only nine passes for 124 yards and a touchdown his rookie season and only had one 100-yard game under his belt.

Ford also makes a great impact on Special Teams with his blazing speed.

It is going to be interesting to see which young receiver Coach Cable decides to go with. Ford seems to be a fan favorite in Oakland and has made big plays when his number has been called.
