Oakland Raiders Need To Set Tone Vs. Dallas Cowboys

The Oakland Raiders play their first preseason game on Thursday, August 12. While perhaps it's only preseason, this game should be taken seriously.

It should mark the start of an Oakland Raider dynasty.

Or at least, an above-average season.

It's time for the Raiders to set the tone for 2010. It's time for them to show the world what they're all about.

On offense, I want to see a good run game, some vertical passes, touchdowns, and Darrius Heyward-Bey showing off his new play.

Defensively, I want to see what Rolando McClain and LaMarr Houston have. Are they just hype or the real deal? Also, let's see some run stoppage. Stuff Marion Barber and Felix Jones right in the hole. Let's see some hard hits, and yes, a dirty play or two.

How will the coaches hold up? Are we still going to see the same simplistic playbook? Is it going to be run, run, pass, punt all over again?

This game is more important than people think.

It's time for the Raiders to show what they've got. Let's see if they're for real.

There are a lot of questions that need to get answered. I'm not sure about you, but I'm ready for some Raider football!

Now, it's time for the questions of the day.

Are These Training Camp Injuries Something To Be Worried About?

Right now, I'd say no. These are just little dings here and there. Let's remember, the Raiders haven't played real football in about six months. That's a long time. We should see everyone on the field Thursday.

How Did Mortensen's Visit to Raiders Camp Go?

Surprisingly well. He and Al Davis supposedly avoided each other, and the visit was rather brief. He said the Raiders have a real shot at the playoffs.
