Oakland Raiders: Is JaMarcus Russell the Biggest Draft Bust in NFL History?

I know, Raider Nation, I know.

This topic has been so abused and outplayed it's ridiculous. Almost like beating a dead horse, right?

Still, I think the fact that JaMarcus Russell's life coach (the one person in his life who was supposed to provide some stability) has quit on Russell must be addressed by a Raider fan.

That's right, folks. John Lucas, former NBA star and alcohol addict, has quit on Russell.

Just in case you don't know, once the former first overall pick was cut by the Oakland Raiders (more on that later), Lucas decided to work with the quarterback and try to revitalize his career.

A year later, Russell still finds himself unemployed.

Now that news has broke about Lucas "firing" Russell, questions are once again surrounding how the former LSU star has let himself stoop so low.

“It’s such a waste of talent,” one source said. “It’s hard to believe a guy with that much ability could let it just waste. It’s sad. It’s like they say, you can’t coach desire," via Yahoo! Sports.

This new development in the Russell saga once again brings up the question of whether or not he's the biggest draft bust in NFL history.

Russell was drafted first overall by the Raiders in the 2007 NFL Draft, and immediately had high expectations as he was considered by most to be a future Hall of Famer. However, Russell held out in training camp and eventually signed a fat six year contract that featured $31 million in guaranteed money.

After poor play and work ethic issues, Russell was cut in 2010.

So, is he the biggest bust or not?

It's tough to determine who the biggest draft bust is, as you must consider plenty of things: Salary, play quality, play time and even circumstance into which the player is drafted.
