Michael Bush and Zach Miller, the most important pieces of the offense with Jason Campbell, showed the ability to move piles and break tackles.
On defense, Kamerion Wimbley had a game he should have saved for the regular season as he made four sacks in 30 minutes. Tommy Kelly, who has drawn criticism since signing for his $18 million guaranteed in 2007, had a sack of his own.
Sebastian Janikowski hit a couple of 43 yard FGs and Shane Lechler had punts ranging from 41-54 yards. Special teams coverage was also clicking with Slade Norris recovering a muffed punt for a TD and he also blocked a punt for a safety.
But at the end of the first half ending the game for the starters, the Raiders were down 14-13. The Raiders have trailed at halftime in both games so far. Not a good sign for the starters.
The Raiders reserves outplayed the Bears reserves and the Raiders won 32-17. After the game, Tom Cable said he "wasn't pleased with the sloppiness" as the Raiders had trouble getting 11 men on the field on some plays.
So with 21 days until the regular season opener, is it safe to say this is the Raiders year?
Back in 1976, the Raiders won a game on a missed Bears field goal at Chicago and that was when many people started to believe it was the Raiders' year.
Saturday, more special teams blunders (bad snaps and muffed punts) led the Raiders to victory. With a 2-0 preseason, does anybody think this is the Raiders year?
