First, I wrote to him and said that his presence on the Oakland Raiders BR webpage is a sure measure of desperation. I, then, wrote in all caps: YOU ARE, INDEED, DESPERATE.
I prefer to believe that some of us in the Raider Nation are "prisoners of hope and faith." I learned the phrase from Joel Osteen, a great, young minister.
After looking up the meaning of "faith", it was discovered that faith is connected to fidelity.
The meaning of fidelity is:
Faithfulness to obligations, duties, or observance.
Exact correspondence with fact or with a given quality, condition, or event; accuracy.
Osteen talked about being "prisoners of hope." That is what helped me see some connections.
He added that if you are in the right place in the right frame of mind, then so much can be achieved.
The Oakland Raiders came to mind. Each and every player will be in the right place in a few more days, after those cuts to trim the team down to about 53 men. Now, the question is, "Are these 53 men going to be in the right frame of mind?"
Another question: Will these men be prisoners of hope, the kind of hope that wills them to victories?
So, I did more research and decided to write the following:
1. The Oakland Raiders must have firmness, stability in all areas of their lives and in the game, and they must be steady.
2. They must believe that faith and hope are the substance of things, and that means faith is the essence and assurance of things. They must play with the essence and accuracy to assure the results desired: more victories.
3. The Oakland Raiders must demonstrate the faithfulness to obligations and duties as a member of the team.
