If you are trying to raise the level of concern of the players on the Oakland Raiders team, you need to grade them.

Don't puff up or inflate the grade because you love the team. Grade them in a manner that inspires them to be the best that they can be.

Is Jason Campbell the best that he can be? No. Not yet.

Is Richard Seymour the best in what he does? No. Not yet.

Are coach Tom Cable and offensive coordinator Hue Jackson doing their very best at calling plays? I don't think so.

So what grades would I give the team.

Students often say that I am compassionate but a tough professor because I expect an excellent product.

My expectations have been partly inherited from those professors who taught me at Texas A&M University and Polytechnic University in Brooklyn, New York.

I had to do the work. It's simple. Just pursue excellence!

Here are the grades I would give the Oakland Raiders at this early portion of the season.

It may agitate some of the readers, but it is the only way we can let you know that we expect "excellence."
