Oakland Raiders: Cornerbacks to Target If Nnamdi Asomugha Doesn’t Re-Sign

So far this offseason, Al Davis has committed a pretty large chunk of money to some potential free agents.

Stanford Routt and John Henderson got new deals.  Kamerion Wimbley will get paid over $11 million with his franchise designation.  Zach Miller and Michael Bush just got first- and third-round tenders.  The price tag that comes with the tenders they got is pretty high.

With all this money being spent, you have to wonder if Davis' pockets are deep enough to get Nnamdi Asomugha under contract.  He was due to make over $17 million before his contract was voided.

Davis made it clear that he doesn't believe spending that much money on one great player is the best decision when you can get two or three solid players for the same amount.

Just in case—and I hope it's not the case—the Raiders and Asomugha aren't able to come to an agreement, here are a few CB prospects the Raiders might be looking at.

Jimmy Smith, Colorado, 6'2", 211 lbs.

He is a big, physical corner.  Ironically, he is built almost exactly like Asomugha.  He is tall with long arms.  He even declared himself a better ball hawk than Asomugha in a recent interview.

He had an excellent workout at the combine.  He ran a 4.42 40-yard dash and pressed 225 lbs. 24 times.  He is a late first-round/early second-round projection right now.  If he is there at No. 48 when the Raiders are on the clock, he might be too tempting for Davis to pass on.

Davon House, New Mexico State, 6'1", 202 lbs.

He had a decent workout at the combine with a 4.44 40-yard dash and 14 reps of 225 lbs.  He was most impressive in the three-cone drill where he posted a time of 6.65 seconds.

Scouts say his man coverage skills are his best asset he played almost exclusively in man coverag...
