Nnamdi Asomugha, Richard Seymour Tutors at Raiders’ First Day of School

Camp is finally here!

All speculations and what-ifs go to the back burner because the Raiders have opened camp as they are. School is now in session for the Oakland Raiders.

Like last year, the first day of camp was more like school than boot camp. They didn't go right to smashmouth practices. They just broke down the way they were going to do things on each play.

There's nothing like some good old-fashioned fundamentals. Head coach Tom Cable once again spoke of keeping the injuries down while working on being fundamentally sound.

Well, someone forgot to tell excitable rookie defensive lineman Lamarr Houston and veteran Robert Gallery. The two got into a bit of a scuffle today.

Richard Seymour arrived a day early and isn't wasting it. He was constantly seen in the ear of Houston as well as others.

Seymour is showing the priceless leadership that led the Raiders to give up a first-rounder for his services. I would say that Seymour sees a bit himself in Houston and is excited to help his development.

That means fewer double- and triple-teams for him.

Don't forget, Asomugha is still a leader on the team too. His leadership was also asserted throughout practice.

The leadership of Asomugha and Seymour didn't stop there today. They extended their hands of leadership after practice as well.

Seymour was working with Houston after practice.

Asomugha was with Darrius Heyward-Bey and not a fellow defensive back.

Heward-Bey was working on getting off of press coverage. Asomugha knows that if DHB can get off his jams, he can get off anyone's.

Now that is both leadership and teamwork.

It's also a step in the right direction.
