NFL Picks Week 7: Injuries, Uncertainty Won’t Keep Raiders from Crushing Chiefs

The Raiders certainly have had themselves an interesting week.

On Sunday, starting quarterback Jason Campbell suffered a broken collarbone. On Tuesday, Oakland traded for Cincinnati quarterback Carson Palmer. On Thursday, ESPN reported that Palmer would start on Sunday versus the Chiefs. On Friday, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that Palmer is not likely to play.

While all of this has been going on, Coach Hue Jackson has been all too willing to not say anything, leaving everyone in the dark in the process.

But Palmer has not been the only interesting high-profile Raider this week.

Friday, October 21 at 12:41 p.m. EDT

Schefter reported that the team was looking at kickers, as stalwart kicker Sebastian Janikowski is banged up.



Saturday, October 22 at 1:05 p.m. EDT

Schefter reported that the Raiders will sign Dave Rayner to fill in for the ailing Janikowski. 



Now, Janikowski is a tremendous weapon for the Raiders. He's much more consistent than he used to be, and he is still capable of making long kicks with no trouble.

This season alone, Janikowski has tied the NFL record for longest field goal (63 yards) and made five total kicks from outside of 50 yards.

With Kyle Boller (or even a rusty Carson Palmer) at quarterback, the Raiders will likely need to make some field goals.

In reality, the worst this is going to do for Oakland is make the game a little closer. If the rushing attack of Darren McFadden and Michael Bush shoulder the load, the Raiders will easily win.

They also have a group of receivers capable of making even a bad quarterback look okay. The only way that the Raiders lose this game is if they commit a lot of turnovers. If they run the ball and run a controlled passing game, that shouldn't happen.
