Memo to Oakland Raiders: Tom Cable Wasn’t Calling the Plays

I must start this blog by saying that I was conflicted about whether the Oakland Raiders should fire coach Tom Cable.

Firing him would create uncertainty.  At the same time, Al Davis could not afford to let go of offensive coordinator Hue Jackson, who was being considered as a head coach for other teams.

That is what the members of the Oakland Raiders must remember.  It wasn't Tom Cable calling the offensive plays this season.  The offense that scored over 400 points was not the result of Tom Cable.

Meaning that, with Jackson as the head coach (assuming that's the case), there won't be much of a change.  If anything, Cable was merely a figurehead.

The offensive turnaround is what turned this team around.  Cable had little to do with that.  That's what people must remember.
