Lamarr Houston: I’m Going to Be An Oakland Raider, Mama

When the Oakland Raiders selected Lamarr Houston in the second round, I was happy. In Houston the Raiders are getting a very talented player to play defensive tackle. At 6'2", 300 pounds, there wasn't any doubt this was the player the Raiders wanted going into the second round of the draft.

Not only were the Raiders able to select Lamarr but they was also able to trade back twice to gain two more draft picks in later rounds. Lamarr Houston is a major sleeper in this draft coming out of Texas.

When you first see Houston you notice his size and monster hands. It's crazy to think, but in high school Lamarr was a running back—not only does he have quick feet but he comes from a winning program and looks to be an impact player fast. Houston is just what the Raiders need in terms of eating blocks and help stopping the run. Add in Richard Seymour and Tommy Kelly, and the Raiders have some major beef up front.

One last fact about Lamarr Houston is that he was born in the Bay Area in the city of San Francisco, and then moved to Sacramento at the age of five. He has ties to California.

Lamarr Houston also plays the piano and drums. Maybe Houston and Nnamdi can have a session together.
