Fantasy Football: Should You Try to Buy Low on Darren McFadden?

There is little reason to be excited about Darren McFadden's start unless you are in a PPR league. Even in that type of league you were severely let down last week.

McFadden's juicy matchup with the Dolphins yielded 22 yards rushing and a pair of catches for 19 yards. That is not the kind of production you would expect from Run DMC.

Through two games he has managed just 54 yards rushing on 26 carries. That's 2.1 yards per carry from a back that averaged 5.4 and 5.2 the past two seasons. His longest run of the season is eight yards.

McFadden has also failed to get in the end zone in either game. You know about the slow start to his career, but he scored 15 combined touchdowns in 20 games combined in 2010 and 2011.

Obviously with McFadden, his injury history is something which which you have to concern yourself. He has yet to play in 14 games in a season, let alone survive the full schedule. That is a real concern. His production should not be.

Aside from the 15 touchdowns he scored in 20 games over the course of the 2010 and 2011 season, he had 2,432 total yards. That's an average of 121.6 total yards and 0.75 TDs per game.

With his ability to catch the ball out of the backfield, he should at least be able to put up a solid number of total yards in most games.

He has a tough draw this week against Pittsburgh, but then his schedule should loosen up starting with Denver.

He'll get to rest any bumps and bruises in his Week 5 bye before taking on Atlanta, Jacksonville, Kansas City and Tampa Bay. Baltimore presents a challenge in Week 10, but it should be pretty smooth sailing the rest of the way.

Send out the feelers to see if you can get him on the cheap. Better days lie ahead.
