Darren McFadden Injury: Raiders RB Reportedly Out for the Season

Darren McFadden will likely miss the remainder of the 211 NFL season with a foot injury he sustained earlier this season. The team has called it a strained foot, but reports are that he had the much more serious Lisfranc injury.

That looks to be the case now.

Sources inside the Oakland Raiders organization have told the NFL network that they would be skeptical that McFadden would be well enough to return if the team made it to the playoffs.

This is terrible news for a running back that has faced injuries throughout his career and looked to be finally running at 100 percent. At the time of his injury in Week 7 against the Kansas City Chiefs, McFadden was the leading rusher in the NFL with 614 yards. He also had over 750 totals yards and five touchdowns as well.

For the Raiders and their hopes of making the playoffs, this is the worst case scenario. With Micheal Bush coming back to earth in terms of success in the run game, there have been rumors that Oakland would be looking to bring someone in.

Raiders head coach Hue Jackson told Comcast SportsNet Bay Area:

"... I felt like I was going to get these guys back. Again, bringing somebody else in to be here for whatever time that is (remaining in the season)? No. Obviously, if I had known that Darren was going to be, you know, gone as long as he has been, maybe you go about it."

While the extent of the injury has not been shared with the media, it is obviously serious enough for the organization to sit him for the remainder of the season.

For fantasy owners, the investment of McFadden in the late first round, early second round this season was right on track to win you a fantasy crown. With the news that his season is done, the heartbreak that came with every passing week he was left on your roster comes to a fitting conclusion.

Michael Bush is the clear starter for the remainder of the season and should remain relevant...
