Darren McFadden Injury: Michael Bush Will Handle Workload against Denver

Oakland Raiders star running back Darren McFadden’s status entering Week 9 has been put into question, and Michael Bush is going to benefit from it.

According to ContraCostaTimes.com, McFadden hasn’t practiced since he suffered a foot sprain on Oct. 23 in an embarrassing 28-0 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Raiders had a bye in Week 8, so the McFadden update could come as a surprise to many. ESPN reported Coach Hue Jackson had previously revealed “no structural damage in the foot.”

With McFadden possibly out of the lineup, backup RB Michael Bush will undoubtedly see a larger role in the Oakland offense. Even if McFadden plays, he won’t carry the ball 30 times.

Bush, the Louisville product, has scored three touchdowns this season. His best game, however, came against the Chiefs last week when he carried the ball 17 times for 99 yards.

Although the Chiefs completely dominated the game, they are a much better team than the Raiders' Week 9 opponent—the Denver Broncos.

A well-rested Raiders team will have great success against the Broncos, who are having similar quarterback issues. Carson Palmer has had much more time to digest the Oakland playbook, and that will show in Sunday’s game.

In the backfield, Bush will be up against another middle-of-the-pack rushing defense. He’s not a shoe-in for the century mark, but he’ll get the touches.

Fantasy owners can play Bush with little worry.

Raiders fans shouldn’t worry either. As long as Oakland can pressure the QB, the Raiders will triumph.
