Chaz Schilens: Oakland Raiders Have Their No. 81

When football fans think of the of the number 81, Terrell Owens and Randy Moss come to mind. They are both big, fast, playmaking receivers.

I believe there is a new one coming into the picture in 2010. Oakland Raider Chaz Scillens is that guy.

Schillens is seventh round steal that has the same attributes as the other two. At 6'4" 225 pounds, Schilens has sub-4.4 40 speed.

He is a polished route runner. I would even go as far as to say that Schilens has more reliable hands than Owens at this point.

If he's so good, why hasn't everyone heard of him?

Why isn't he among the league leaders in receptions and yards?

Injury is the only reason he hasn't broke out.

Schilens showed that he was going to be that guy late in the 2008. He made even Jamarcus Russell look good at the end of the season.

Schilens made catch after acrobatic catch, getting key first downs and touchdowns. Raider Nation thought good things were coming for him and Russell in 2009.

However, Schilens broke his foot in training camp and missed the first nine games of the 2009 season. While he was out, Russell was exposed as the ultimate bust. Schilens wasn't fully back until Week 17, catching eight balls for 99 yards aganist the Baltimore Ravens.

Schilens has since had another surgery to the same foot this offseason. Fortunately, it was just a cleanup that will not affect him in 2010. In fact, he has healed way ahead of schedule.

Shilens now has a legitamate quarterback in Jason Campbell. Many say that Campbell really isn't anything special. If he isn't, The Raiders will take his 3,618 and 20 touchdowns over what they've had.

But I happen to think Schilens will be the guy that makes him special.

Michael Irvin made Troy Aikman special. Marvin Harrison made Peyton Manning special. With Jerry Rice an...
