Apparently he happens to like Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb, this according to Yahoo! Sports.
"Philadelphia Eagles coach Andy Reid said Wednesday the team is entertaining offers for Donovan McNabb, and multiple sources told Yahoo! Sports the Buffalo Bills and Oakland Raiders have inquired about the quarterback’s availability."
This is not surprising considering Davis has made major trades involving big name players the last two years. He brought in Deangelo Hall in 2008 and Richard Seymour in 2009.
If these "sources" are correct then that means Davis and the Raiders aren't exactly comfortable with JaMarcus Russell or Bruce Gradkowski as their starter. What this means for the future of Russell is still unclear.
McNabb has been in the league for 11 years, and is a proven starter in the league and he would be an upgrade over the Raiders current quarterbacks on the roster.
The Raiders have already given up a first round pick in 2011 in the Seymour Trade. You'd have to wonder what the Raiders would have to give up to obtain McNabb.
This move may not be in the best interest for the Raiders long term future, but it would stop the seven year slide they have suffered since losing the Super Bowl in 2002.
Odds are McNabb wants to go to a contending team, and the Eagles are most likely not to deal him to an NFC team.
This is an interesting rumor, and we'll see how the Raiders respond. Davis and the Raiders are unpredictable and are not afraid to pull off a big move like this.
