2010 Oakland Raiders Training Camp: Injuries Start To Worry Some

Going back to last preseason, Chaz Schilens was looked at as a horrible twist of fate. A good, talented player, he had a problem of not being able to be truly, fully healthy. Missing a good number of games, he did return in time to give the team 29 catches in eight games.

Now, from the news in Napa Chaz is more than likely out against the Titans in week one.

From the work Oakland did, they tried to play his foot injury with caution, only to cause a knee injury from over compensation. It's a difficult fact, but given that the Raiders haven't had him in either wins this post-season, getting Chaz back, earlier than week 9 would be a welcome sight. Losing him for a full year would be painful.

Samson Satele, the starting Center for Oakland, is out against the 49ers and anything beyond that is speculation. Injured against the Bears, Chris Morris entered the game and proceeded to fumble away the exchange, with the Bears on the next play to go 89 yards on Matt Forte's long run.

Some feel this might be the right time for Jared Veldheer to take over for the Raiders at center, but it also begs the question...with player, would be better served at Center, and which one would help the Raiders more at Tackle?

Jared has proven he's going to be valued, either place...but it would be advisable not to get him hurt in the preseason as well.



 

Jay Richardson, who is playing at Defensive end also had to undergo surgery for a meniscus tear, with the target return hopeful for the game against the Titans.

On better news, both Darren McFadden and Darrius Heyward-Bey were practicing today, with the evident idea that both would be able to play Saturday against the 49ers in Oakland.
