2010 Oakland Raiders’ New Quarterback: In Grad We Trust

Cruising down the highway without a care in the world, the best mode of transport is a chauffeur-driven limo to allow you to take in the view.

However, when the road disappears and the terrain becomes rocky, you need a rugged off-road vehicle equipped to get you moving and keep you in one piece. When you hit the highway again, you may want to revisit your options.

The Oakland Raiders are a long way from the highway. The Silver-and-Black have a sluggish offense, held back by a struggling offensive line.

The Raiders need a quarterback cast in the image of the offensive coordinator Hue Jackson, one with a high-energy and a ruggedness to get the job done. The Raiders need a pirate captain. The Raiders need Bruce Gradkowski.

The brave decision to bench Jason Campbell, the undisputed number one quarterback going into the season, should prove a fruitful one for head coach Tom Cable.

Gradkowski’s last four games as a started produced 844 passing yards, six touchdowns and just one interception for a quarterback rating of 89.7. Gradkowski is the right man at the right time. Oakland needs to get on the BG train as Oakland’s number five may just give the Raiders the energy they need to rise above .500 for the first time in recent memory.

The future is bright, the future is Gradkowski…

…at least for now!
