2010 NFL Combine: Bruce Campbell a Lock to the Oakland Raiders?

The 2010 NFL Combine kicked off this week in what has seemed to be nothing of a disappointment.

We have begun to witness many of the NFL's top prospects attend the combine to improve their draft stock and show scouts what potential they truly have in the NFL.

With many of the quarterbacks backing out of the combine and settling for their Pro Day instead, we have just been waiting for one storyline to take control of this week-long event.

And I believe we have officially found a story, involving Maryland offensive lineman Bruce Campbell.

Before the combine even began, the tackle from Maryland was projected as a mid-to-late first round pick, seeing either San Francisco or Pittsburgh as the likely option.

However, many sports bloggers across the web kept the Oakland Raiders as an option. Why? Because Campbell was believed to have great speed for an offensive lineman, a characteristic Raiders owner Al Davis loves in his players.

Campbell posted the fastest time in the 40-yard dash by an offensive lineman in the history of the combine, running a 4.78.

Impressive? For certain. Most mock drafts will now have him slotted as a top-15 selection, but he might have sealed his fate with the Oakland Raiders.

It is certainly not a secret. The offensive line is dreadful and needs help desperately.

At this point it doesn't matter who is the starting quarterback come Week 1 for Oakland.

They will not be going anywhere if they can not protect the quarterback.

I wouldn't actually disagree with the selection of Campbell, as it does make sense for Oakland.

He is a left tackle who can not only protect the quarterback's blind side, but can also be a great blocking force down the field for the tandem of running back...
