Steve Nash Injury: Updates on Lakers PG’s Back

The Los Angeles Lakers' injury list just keeps on growing, as point guard Steve Nash was forced to leave Tuesday's game with some sort of back problem.

UPDATE: Tuesday, January 8 at 10:05 p.m. ET by Tim Keeney

It appears the Lakers have dodged a major bullet, as the Los Angeles Times' Mike Bresnahan is reporting that Nash has re-entered Tuesday's game:

And Nash getting ready to check back into the game...

---End of update---

Mike Bresnahan of the Los Angeles Times had the news:

Steve Nash heading to the locker room after motioning to Lakers physical therapist that his back was hurting.

— Mike Bresnahan (@Mike_Bresnahan) January 9, 2013 This is hardly something Mike D'Antoni's squad can afford, as Dwight Howard, Pau Gasol and Jordan Hill are already sidelined with various injuries.

In what is beginning to look like a loss against the Houston Rockets, the Lakers were forced to start Robert Sacre and Darius Morris alongside Nash, Kobe Bryant and Metta World Peace.

It's slightly frightening to think what the starting lineup will look like if Nash is forced to miss any time while Howard, Gasol and Hill still remain out.

Moreover, this injury has the potential to spoil a historic night for the future Hall of Famer.

With his fifth assist of the night, Nash became the fifth player in NBA history to record 10,000 career helpers. John Stockton, Jason Kidd, Mark Jackson and Magic Johnson are the only other players to accomplish that feat.

But as the Lakers continue to stockpile injured players, it's their old age—and not major achievements—that is unfortunately making the headlines.
