Nash's slashing ability, which often leads to defensive rotations close to painted area, means there'll many more openings for outside shooters to knock down three pointers—which is precisely why Jodie Meeks would be a fine addition to the Lakers roster.

Last season, he averaged a shade under 25 minutes per game, averaged 8.4 points, shot 41 percent from the field and nearly 37 percent from distance.
Though Meeks is a fine athlete, he tends to float around the perimeter waiting for open shots, instead of driving hard toward the basket.
With Nash as his point guard, that approach will be welcomed.
As a team, the Lakers shot 32.6 percent from beyond the arc in 2011, which ranked them a disappointing No. 25 in the NBA.
Nash himself will add more three-point prowess to the club, but his uncanny penetrate-and-dish style of play, especially off the pick-and-roll, would give Meeks a chance to contribute to L.A. moving up those rankings.
