NBA Free Agency: Is It the Truth that Paul Pierce Might Be Coming Home?

Imagine growing up in Inglewood, California as a Los Angeles Lakers fanatic.

Now imagine becoming good enough to be drafted only to be selected by your favorite team's biggest rival (possibly the biggest rivalry in sports), the Boston Celtics.

In 1998 Paul Pierce, The Truth, was drafted with the 10th selection by the lucky green in beantown.

Pierce averaged 22 points, six boards and four assists over 12 seasons with the franchise he taught himself to love.

The eight time All-Star and 2008 Finals MVP was the heart and soul of Boston Basketball for over a decade.

Now he's just the latest addition to the already historic list of 2010 free agents.

Chris Bosh, Lebron James and Dwayne Wade have already met and the possibility of those three together in Miami is frightening to anyone who wants to see parody in the NBA.

But what if Pierce, who is coming off a heart breaking defeat in Game 7 of the Finals against the Los Angeles Lakers, decided to conjure up some childhood memories and keep the irony of his career alive by signing with the defending champs?

Could Jerry Buss have one more card up his sleeve?

If the Lakers front office can figure out a way to bring The Truth back home to the sunny state of California, the Lakers will again emerge as the favorites to three-peat.

And if Bosh, James and Wade all become names on one roster, the NBA will be a league of two titans with everyone else trying to play spoiler.

The greatest free agent class in NBA History has become even better, and new rivalries will be the product come next season.

All that needs to be said is...let the bidding wars begin.
