Metta World Peace’s New Reality Show a Big Joke, Literally

Metta World Peace is in development with LMNO Productions to put together a television prank show titled Metta World Pranks.

Terrible title aside, the show sounds like one of the best athlete-related television shows in a long time—at least since Shaquille O'Neal was challenging kids at spelling in the short-run reality show Shaq Vs., which was at least interesting for a few minutes.

According to the release, the show will feature World Peace pranking other professional athletes, their friends, family members, girlfriends, boyfriends and various fans.

Metta World Pranks will be produced by the same production company that currently produces I Get That A Lot, a generally terrible hidden-camera show featuring famous people in everyday situations while normal people look at them with a confused face.

Hopefully they can put together a better product with World Peace. The fact that they have found a guy who might just be the best possible athlete to put on a prank show—and that there's actually a pretty big hole in the television world for prank shows—might just make this one a winner, at least for a handful of episodes.

Whether it's a thoroughly enjoyable television show, or just an entertaining disaster, it's certainly something that's going to need to be watched to really get an eyeful of World Peace.

Hell, if Steve-O can have a singing game show, and Justin Bieber can put together a terrible reboot of Punk'd, then why can't Metta World Peace send a $58,000 check to Nick Collison's table at a steakhouse and record it?

As long as his idea of a gag isn't elbowing dudes in the neck, it should be a nice attempt at a prank show.
