That fan is former player, coach and part-owner Magic Johnson, who has been willing to share his opinions on the struggles of the team all season. But apparently, he's experienced a change of heart:
This comes after Johnson said a couple weeks ago that "This is what happens when you make the wrong decisions, two coaching wrong decisions, giving Steve Nash that deal, it’s backfired."
Bleacher Report's Kevin Ding took exception to Johnson's criticisms and pointed out some inconsistencies in his comments in a piece from Jan. 16:
His uneducated, shallow, fleeting assessments indicate he's a bandwagon guy who mainly wants to make clear, in a trap a lot of older people tend to fall into, that the past was better. Jerry Buss was his benefactor, Jerry West was great, blah blah blah.
If Johnson really cared, he'd be responsible with his comments.
Perhaps Johnson is now on the same page as Ding, as he's expressed his intent to quit tearing down the franchise he loves:
He even went so far as to start throwing out some compliments:
My mother would be very proud of Magic, as she used to always quote Bambi, "If you can't say somethin' nice, don't say nothin' at all."
