Los Angeles Lakers Sign Manny Harris to Contract

Manny Harris, of the Lakers' D-League affiliate Los Angeles D-Fenders, will reportedly join the Lakers in time for their next game.

ESPN Los Angeles' Dave McMenamin has the details:



Harris recently won NBA Development League Performer of the Week honors. He also set the D-Fenders record for points scored in a single game with 49.

Dropping 40-plus points has actually become a nightly accomplishment for Harris, who is posting insane numbers that have catapulted him to the top of the D-League's Prospect Watch:



Initially undrafted, Harris spent two seasons with the Cleveland Cavaliers before flaming out after 2011-12. This season, however, his D-League campaign has rekindled past interest.

Through 13 games, he's averaging a ridiculous 30.6 points on 48.5 percent shooting while pitching in 6.5 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 2.1 steals as well.



The point guard-depleted Lakers certainly need someone who can inject additional playmaking into their rotation. Scoring is equally important, too, since they currently rank 22nd in offensive efficiency.

Harris, who's converting just 25.7 percent of his three-point attempts for the D-Fenders, won't provide much in the way of outside shooting. The long ball has always been his Achilles heel, even...
