Lakers Trade Rumors: Magic Won’t Receive a Better Offer Than LA’s

The Orlando Magic must return to reality.

According to the latest trade rumors, Orlando is looking for an offer better than the Los Angeles Lakers’. They won’t find one. If the Magic truly want to increase their payday, they should eliminate the Cleveland Cavaliers from the equation.

Sam Amico of FOX Sports reported on Monday that trade talks between the Lakers, Magic and Cavaliers have stalled. He said:

Should the Magic be frustrated with a deal that involves them surrendering Dwight Howard and landing Anderson Varejao? Without a doubt.

Is it risky to acquire Andrew Bynum without a promise that he’ll re-sign? Without a doubt.

But as training camp approaches, Orlando is running out of time. They have to deal D12 before then. If he shows up for camp, no matter what the Magic believe, it’ll be an absolute disaster.



Trading Howard and Chris Duhon to the Lakers for Bynum and Josh McRoberts is their best bet.

Orlando would rid themselves of a poor contract in Duhon and receive an expiring one in McRoberts. And unlike in a swap for Varejao, they’d receive a franchise-caliber talent in Bynum. And because of that, he’s well worth the risk.



Rob Hennigan would possess Bynum’s Bird Rights giving the Magic an advantage over other teams to sign him. Considering that the seven-footer already boasts two championship rings, he’d be more likely to sign with a lottery team than most stars. And I’d take a roll of the dice to add the second-best center in the league over Varejao every single time.
