Lakers Rumors: Latest Buzz Surrounding Carmelo Anthony and Head Coaching Search

As the 2014 NBA Finals approach, the Los Angeles Lakers continue to maneuver for a chance to return to their winning ways.

The offseason is expected to be turbulent for this team. They're coming off a historically dismal season and are in search of on-court talent and the right head coach to dramatically right the ship.

There's been no shortage of rumors circulating around the Lakers recently—everyone is attempting to anticipate what this team will do next.

Let's take a look at a few rumors regarding a highly sought-after free agent and the head coaching search in Los Angeles.

Lakers to Pass on Anthony?

Carmelo Anthony has been generating plenty of buzz as he decides if he is going to test free agency or potentially return to the New York Knicks.

His name has been tied to the Lakers recently; however, a report from Marc Berman of the New York Post could put an end to that.

Berman writes, "Meanwhile, the Lakers have cap space, but sources maintain they aren't too interested in Anthony as a fit with Kobe Bryant. Nor is Lakers president Jeanie Buss enthralled with stealing Anthony from Jackson, her fiance."

According to a tweet from Steve Kyler of Basketball Insiders, the latter half of that rumor would be a violation of the NBA's policy:

Still, this comes as rather shocking news.

We know that the aging Bryant must be paired with another star in Los Angeles; however, we could speculate that Anthony's desire to have the ball in his hands could end up conflicting with Bryant's playing style.

If that's what the Lakers are currently thinking, adding Anthony would be a very expensive endeavor for a team wary of the potential results.
