Lakers News: Dwight Howard Visits NBA Legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar

Dwight Howard met with NBA legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar this week, which was a great experience for the new Los Angeles Lakers center.

Just set down with @kaj33. Man God is so good. Was in tears. What a blessing. This is like a dream come true. Go Lakers.

— Dwight Howard (@DwightHoward) September 3, 2012 Just like Howard, Abdul-Jabbar came to Los Angeles with lots of pressure and expectations after arriving via trade from the Milwaukee Bucks.

Howard can learn a lot about playing in Los Angeles from former centers that had success in purple and gold, such as Abdul-Jabbar and Shaquille O'Neal.

With the impressive moves that the Lakers have made this offseason, it's championship or bust in Hollywood. The additions of Howard, Steve Nash, Jodie Meeks and Antawn Jamison have given Los Angeles a well-rounded roster that only a few teams in the league can defeat.

Only a few people could help Howard deal with this kind of pressure, and Abdul-Jabbar is one of them. Howard would be wise to take all the advice from Abdul-Jabbar that he can, because Howard has a lot to live up to as Lakers center.

The franchise is known for having some of the best centers in basketball history. Not only were George Mikan, Abdul-Jabbar and O'Neal great players, they also won championships. Howard's tenure in Los Angeles, even if it's only one season, will be judged by the titles he wins.

Meeting a player like Abdul-Jabbar was great for Howard, and he would be wise to keep in touch with the Lakers legend for as long as he plays in Los Angeles.
