Forget John Wall…Evan Turner who?
(David Stern Voice) - With the 43rd and 58th picks in the 2010 NBA draft, the Los Angeles Lakers strike GOLD.
Devin Ebanks and Derrick Caracter are two of the brightest stars in the NBA summer league in Vegas.
Ebanks, a versatile 6’9 guard/forward has played out of his mind in the first two games. He followed his 21pt debut with an assuring 24pt performance. What’s scary about the whole thing is he’s like Ariza, where he doesn’t need offense ran through him.
Ebanks thrives in the open floor and find gaps in the half-court, setting his feet on the perimeter or creating of the dribble. His length and athleticism makes him an instant threat to the rim. Ebanks also possesses extremely long arms that often find themselves in opposing passing lanes.
As his game continues to develop, I see a more offensively gifted Trevor Ariza.
Now let’s shift to our newly found post game…
Derrick Caracter is a monster. At 6’9 you might think he’s a bit undersized to play forward, which I completely agreed with until I watched him play. Caracter uses brute strength along with his Glen Davis like motor to punish his defenders.
Caracter has been a walking double-double. He followed a 20-10 performance with 17-12 and 4asts. In just his second summer league game, he commanded double teams on every post touch. Caracter combats the doubles with quickness and his ability to put it on the floor to elude pressure.
This guy is scary. He has the hunger to score; however, sometimes it could lead to his demise. Once he finds the passing and scoring medium he will be special.
I’m convinced that the Lakers have found two top rookies in the second round. Sorry Josh Powell, Mbenga and Morrison….we gave you a nice ride, but thes...
