L.A. Lakers Rings Shine Brightest During Opening Night Ceremony

Each Los Angeles Laker received another championship ring before Tuesday night's 112-110 nail-biting win against the Houston Rockets. It might have been a familiar sight, but the hardware was anything but.

Jason of Jason of Beverly Hills created the estimated 60 rings that were given to the purple and gold. He's friends with the sons of Lakers owner Jerry Buss.

The ring is very large and has 16 oversized diamonds, which stand for the number of Lakers championships. Players received rings carved with a three-dimensional image of their face.

But the most unique feature of the new bling was the cut up leather attached to its underside. The origin of which came from the basketballs used during game seven of last years finals.

Players are allowed to give their spouse a ring, so even if the team doesn't decide to give Ron Artest a replacement ring after he auctioned his off, he'll still be able to see it whenever he wants.

As teams try to enhance rings in future seasons, what kinds of upgrades should we expect? More diamonds? A built-in mp3 player? A mini screen that shows the highlights of each individual player?

Let me know what you think.
