Kobe Bryant’s Wife Wouldn’t Want to Marry a Man Who Couldn’t Win Championships

Kobe Bryant's wife, Vanessa Bryant, has rarely been a woman of many words, letting the media and her stonewalled facial expressions operate as her form of communication throughout her marriage to the Black Mamba.

Yet, silence can only last for so long, and oh how her voice will be heard worldwide after she made a comment about not wanting to marry a basketball player that can’t win championships, according to Nicki Jhablava’s Twitter:

Vanessa Bryant, via NY Mag: "I certainly would not want to be married to somebody that can't win championships. (cont) tl.gd/iqvfhj

— Nicki Jhabvala (@NickiJhabvala) August 13, 2012 On some level, the public has to understand where she may have been coming from instead of jumping to the worst possible conclusion. Maybe Mrs. Bryant, at least for the time being, feels if a man is allowing his basketball career to trump time with his family, then it had better be for a cause.

If he isn’t winning championships, then what is he risking it all for?

Unfortunately, the translation of her quotes to NY Mag sounds more like an ode to the perception of her and Kobe’s marriage.

Mrs. Bryant has long been accused of being a gold digger/trophy wife to the famed basketball superstar and the latest quote release, without knowing the context of the question asked, just throws gasoline on an already wild fire.

Despite what a lot of critics may say about Vanessa Bryant’s marriage with Kobe Bryant, she is one of the few basketball wives who have earned her label and her luxuries.

Still, this may be one of those things that should have been kept off the record.
