Kobe Bryant Gives Away 2 Pairs of Autographed Shoes to Young Fans

Along with the tributes, handshakes and standing ovations, more than a few pairs of autographed kicks have been distributed on Kobe Bryant's retirement tour.

Although they've frequently been passed on to some of the Black Mamba's most formidable opponents of the past, a few have found residence with some excited young fans.

Feeling particularly generous despite a disappointing night against the Denver Nuggets, the Lakers legend signed not one, but two sets of sneakers for a couple of eager Lake Show faithfuls sitting just a few rows behind the Los Angeles bench.

Update from Thursday, March 3

As it turns out, Bryant gave his shoes away only once the kids had earned them, according to Cameron Wolfe of the Denver Post:

“No, they earned them,” Bryant said. “They wanted to know what the name of my pet dog was so I gave them a clue. I said ‘it’s in a (Harry) Potter film.’ So every time, they threw out like 15 names. The deal was if they got it, I’d give them my shoes. And they got it.”

Bryant revealed the name of his dog is Crucio, the name of one of three unforgivable curses that inflicts excruciating pain upon the receiver.

Just another classic Mamba story.

There's nothing quite like inspiring the next generation—something a visibly grinning No. 24 would likely be inclined to agree with.
