Julius Randle Injury: Updates on Lakers Forward’s Ankle and Return

Los Angeles Lakers forward Julius Randle dealt with an ankle injury that forced him to miss Wednesday's game against the Oklahoma City Thunder. However, he is ready to return.

Randle Active vs. Clippers Friday, Dec. 25 While Lakers coach Byron Scott is unsure of how many minutes Randle will play, the forward is active Friday against the Los Angeles Clippers, per Baxter Holmes of ESPN.com.

Randle's Development a Bright Spot for Lakers In another down Lakers season that has become the Kobe Bryant farewell tour, Randle has been one of the few bright spots, averaging 11.5 points and 9.5 rebounds per game.

Yet, Randle was benched in December despite his solid performance. It was tough for him to take, per Holmes:

The Lakers selected Randle seventh overall in the 2014 NBA draft after he led the University of Kentucky to the national championship game in his freshman season. He averaged 15.0 points per game and 10.4 rebounds in his lone season with the Wildcats.

His capabilities under the basket are something the Lakers are in need of, as they ranked 22nd in rebounds last season. But Los Angeles doesn't just need him for rebounding, according to Scott, who told Holmes that "every time he gets a defensive rebound, I want him to push it."
