Russell Active vs. Wizards  Sunday, March 27 Russell is "available to play" on Sunday against the Washington Wizards, according to Serena Winters of Lakers Nation, who added his ankle looked "pretty good" in warm-ups.

Russell Comments on Injury Saturday, March 26 “I definitely want to get out there,” Russell said, per Mark Medina of the Los Angeles Daily News. “We only have a few games left and want to finish the season on a positive note. I definitely want to get out there as soon as possible. I’ll see how it feels tomorrow and make a decision.”

Russell Significant Part of Lakers' Future Plans Russell was the No. 2 overall pick in the 2015 NBA draft, and he is one reason there is still optimism in Los Angeles despite the fact the team hasn’t reached the playoffs since the 2012-13 campaign.

He overcame something of a slow start to the year to develop into one of the Lakers’ better playmakers in 2015-16.

Russell has flashed moments of brilliance that showed fans why the Lakers used such a high pick on him after just one season with the Ohio State Buckeyes. He is an impressive ball-handler and can stretch the defense with his outside shooting. What’s more, he is a solid passer and versatile enough to play either point guard or shooting guard.

The Lakers are rebuilding with an eye on the future, and Russell is a building block alongside Jordan Clarkson and forward Julius Randle.
