Quick, 26, cannot officially agree to the extension until July 1st, when the last year of his current contract kicks in, and he becomes eligible for extension.
No numbers have come out as of yet, as details are still breaking. However TSN's Darren Dreger and Bob Mackenzie are tweeting that the deal is in the range of $55-60 million. That would be a cap hit anywhere in the range of $5.5 to 6 million a season.
The Connecticut native is coming off a Conn Smythe-winning playoff performance and had a regular season that put him among the Kings' all-time franchise leaders in wins (131), save percentage (.916) and GAA (2.30).
He's also second in shutouts (24) and third in total appearances with the team (249).
The current deal would make Jonathan Quick a Los Angeles King through the 2023-24 season.
More details to come on the numbers of the deal. However, it's unlikely we will hear a number until July 1st when the contract can be made official under the current collective bargaining agreement.
