LA Kings Parade 2012: Players We’re Most Excited to See Celebrate

Los Angeles has seen its fair share of horrible dancing at championship (who can forget Mark Madsen's moves?), but the city has never had a chance to see its hockey team let loose.

The Los Angeles Kings defeated the New Jersey Devils in six games to cap off an incredible postseason run that featured an incredible transformation from afterthought to Stanley Cup winners.

The franchise was founded 46 years ago and now has its first title. 

This is a young team that featuring scores of first-time cup-winners, and the parade is sure to produce some entertaining celebrations.

The event will start at noon on June 14 at 5th and Figueroa in downtown Los Angeles and finish in front of the Staples Center.

Here are the players to keep an eye on throughout the festivities

 

Jonathan Quick

There is no player on the Kings that has more of a reason to celebrate.

The goaltender had a remarkable postseason and was the biggest reason the Kings are now champions.

His performance in net earned him the Conn Smythe trophy as the most valuable player in the Stanley Cup playoffs. This leaves just one question to be answer: can he dance?

Quick showed nimble feet on the ice while covered in pounds of padding, so it would be no surprise if he can cut a rug in sneakers and street clothes. Look for the goalie to put a cap on his accomplishments with a memorable celebration at the parade.

 

Anze Kopitar

Anze Kopitar is the first ever Slovenian player in the NHL. He lived in his homeland until he was 16 years old, before leaving to pursue his hockey career.

As a celebration of his unique heritage, maybe fans will be treated to a traditional Slovenian dance.
