Behind the stellar play of goaltender Jonathan Quick and the offensive prowess of Dustin Brown, the Kings have been on a roll in this year's playoffs. They have been hands-down the most impressive team of those in contention for the cup.
Tonight, in my eyes, will be the final game of the Kings-Coyotes series. The Kings will earn the victory tonight and face the winner of the Devils-Rangers series in the finals.
Many will point to the home-ice advantage which will be in the favor of the Phoenix Coyotes. This should not be taken into account though, as the Kings have been road warriors.
The regular season saw the Kings go 18-13-10 on the road, a very respectable record for any team on the road. These numbers became even better in the playoffs, as the Kings have gone a perfect 7-0 on the road.
This undefeated road record has come at the expense of the three best teams in the Western Conference. These teams are the Vancouver Canucks (first place), St. Louis Blues (second place) and the Coyotes (third seed in the playoffs). If that is not amazing, I don't know what is.
Furthermore, Jonathan Quick's continued dominance in net has proven to be too much for any team in this postseason. Though the Coyotes were able to win game four of the series, they have struggled to find the back of the net consistently. Quick has dominated and will continue to dominate in this series, as he has shown no fear in net.
Should the Kings offense show up tonight, the Coyotes will be in big trouble. Phoenix goaltender Mike Smith has done an admirable job for the Coyotes, but the fact of the matter is he ran into a team on a hot streak. There is no shame in that whatsoever.
