Breaking News: Los Angeles Kings Officially Fire Coach Terry Murray

With much discussion being had over the struggling Los Angeles Kings the past few days, L.A. Times columnist and long-time Kings writer Helene Elliot posted this evening that the Kings are close to firing coach Terry Murray.

Nothing is official right now and the story is still developing. Stay tuned for further updates.

Update - 8:40 am PST: As of right now nothing has come out officially, and the Kings have just hit the ice for scheduled practice at TD Garden with Murray. Kings general manager Dean Lombardi and assistant to the general manager Ron Hextall are scheduled to arrive in Boston later today.

Update - 2:26 pm PST: Terry Murray did a post practice interview with Kings insider Rich Hammond and discussed his approach to the games with said "rumors" flying around. He stated that he will change nothing in his approach to tomorrow nights game against the Bruins.

Dean Lombardi and Tim Leiweke were both contacted for comment but both declined.

Update - 2:47 PM PST - The Kings have officially announced through their team website that coach Terry Murray has been fired and assistant John Stevens will act as Interim coach for the time being.

Murray was in his 4th season as the Kings head coach and had taken the team to two consecutive playoff berths. However, the breaking point had to be the team offense, which currently stands at dead last in the NHL, and has finished bottom ten in the league on a consistent basis during Murray's tenure.
