The Latest on the Oakland Raiders’ Training Camp and Signings

The Oakland Raiders have lost more than their fair share of talent this offseason, but they’re finally starting to make some positive moves. The re-signing of OLB Kamerion Wimbley (coming off a nine-sack campaign) has been followed up today with the addition of former Giant Kevin Boss.

Wimbley’s pass-rush presence will be crucial to a defense that suddenly needs to protect rather than rely on a secondary that will be without superstar Nnamdi Asomugha. Whether Oakland overpaid for Wimbley’s services is a question worth asking, but on the field, he’ll make the Raiders glad they retained him.

Boss, meanwhile, will face the unenviable task of replacing Pro Bowl TE Zach Miller. Boss is a force as a blocker, but taking over for the Raiders’ leading receiver from 2010 may be beyond his capabilities.

Of course, in this jinxed offseason, the Raiders can’t take two steps forward without a step back. Superstar running back Darren McFadden suffered a fractured orbital bone in practice yesterday, though luckily for Oakland, he’s only expected to miss a couple of weeks.

Read on for a look at all the latest news from a tumultuous Oakland camp.
