Tarell Brown Injury: Updates on Raiders CB’s Head and Return

Oakland Raiders cornerback Tarell Brown left the team's Week 3 preseason contest against the Green Bay Packers in the second quarter, according to the Raiders' official Twitter account:

This comes as bad news for a team that ranked 28th in the league in pass defense a year ago. The Raiders brought in Brown on a one-year deal over the offseason after he spent his first seven seasons with the San Francisco 49ers.

Brown is slated to start at cornerback this season opposite Carlos Rogers, according to the team's official depth chart.

Last season with the 49ers, Brown accumulated 32 tackles and 10 passes defensed in 13 games. He finished the season ranked 31st in the league at his position—out of 100 eligible players—with a plus-4.9 rating from Pro Football Focus (subscription required).

If Oakland is to right the ship in the secondary this season, it will need a healthy Brown in the fold. Head injuries vary in many degrees of severity, so this situation is certainly one to monitor as the Raiders' first regular-season contest against the New York Jets inches closer.
