Oakland Raiders’ Training Camp Injury Roundup

Thankfully, the Oakland Raiders don’t have any major injuries to worry about in the early stages of training camp.

However, there are some mysterious no-shows from players who were active during organized team activities and mandatory minicamp before the six-week layoff.

Tough start to camp for Rod Streater, Clive Walford, and Trent Richardson. All in position battles, missing fourth straight day.

— Raiders Beat (@RaidersBeat) August 3, 2015 Head coach Jack Del Rio opted not to elaborate on the majority of these injuries except for categorizing all the players as day-to-day in an open press conference, per the team’s official website.

Trent Richardson

Del Rio had some commentary on the nature of one particular player. It’s up to you to read in between the lines as Silver and Black Pride writer Levi Damien did in his piece:

Today following practice he noted that Streater and Richardson have different issues they're dealing with and expanded upon Richardson's situation, notably that he has yet to reach the weight goals placed upon him by the team.

"Trent is here, he came back very close to the weight, which was a pretty ambitious goal to get to and he's down in the low 220s," said Del Rio. "That's what we asked of him, that's where he was as a player at 'Bama. I really believe with him committing himself like that and getting himself in that type of shape, he'll have a chance to come out here and show what he's really capable of."

Clearly, the focus here isn’t an illness. It’s conditioning. Offensive line coach Mike Tice made a comment about running back Trent Richardson shedding weight to Sirius XM NFL Radio (h/t Raiders.com) during the last week of OTAs. Apparently, Richardson’s still a work in progress as he continues to get himself ready for the practice field.
