Last season, the Raiders gave up a third-round pick in this year's draft to select Terrelle Pryor in the supplemental draft, the last draft choice Al Davis ever made.
Pryor was highly recruited coming out of high school before settling on Ohio State. He was a two-sport star, being highly sought after to play basketball as well, before deciding upon football. Although Pryor's college career didn't end on a high note, he still had some success as a Buckeye. As a junior, he combined for 3,526 yards and 32 touchdowns.
Since coming to Oakland, Pryor has never really seen the field, and it's likely some people have even forgotten he plays for them.
Despite losing seven of 10 games, Carson Palmer has had a good year with Oakland. He's completed 60.7 percent of his passes and thrown for 17 touchdowns. His 3,035 passing yards rank third in the NFL, behind only Matt Ryan and Drew Brees. It's possible that the Palmer trade could end up doing the Raiders some good after all.
Still, they owe it to themselves to see what Pryor is capable of, especially in a lost season. It doesn't need to be immediately, but at some point he should get some real game action.
Pryor was selected by a previous regime, but it seems there will be several quarterback-hungry teams in the offseason. If the Raiders don't see Pryor in their future, maybe someone else does. The best way for them to get some compensation for him in a trade would be to audition him in front of the league.
Pryor has 4.4 speed, a very strong arm and even had two receiving touchdowns in college, showing his versatility.
