A business trip on April 4 will put me in Washington, D.C. Somehow I am going to make time to go to K Street and see the reporters and observers in front of the building where the NFL negotiations are taking place.
Here is the description and mission statement of the organization that is laboring to come to some type of agreement between the NFL players and owners:
The Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service
Created by Congress as an independent agency of the U.S. government in 1947, the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service (FMCS)’s primary responsibility is to promote sound and stable labor-management relations through a variety of mediation and conflict resolution services. These services include the mediation of collective bargaining negotiations and grievances, training for labor and management in skills and processes aimed at improving the workplace relationship, and the referral of private arbitrators for the settlement of controversies over the application or provisions in a collective bargaining agreement.
I asked an Oakland Raiders fan if she knew about this organization and she said no. Neither did I, but it makes sense to get some kind of insight of what's going on in the NFL.
The context of the situation in the NFL can certainly affect the Oakland Raiders, coached by Hue Jackson. Looking toward the future and maintaining a positive attitude is what we should do.
No matter the outcome in the FMCS, we must continue to believe that it's going to work for the good of the Oakland Raiders.
In the meantime, I am going to get my camera and go to the spot and say my positive proclamations over the territory.
