Mike Goodson: Latest Update on Raiders’ Injured RB

Mike Goodson is dealing with a painful high ankle sprain, and though he hasn't been ruled out of the Oakland Raiders' Week 10 contest against the Baltimore Ravens, it's not likely he's even going to suit up.

Per the Bay Area News Group's Jerry McDonald:

Running backs Darren McFadden and Mike Goodson each spent the day in protective boots, nursing high right ankle sprains. Coach Dennis Allen hasn't ruled them out, but the Raiders are making plans to play without them.

McDonald also reports that Taiwan Jones and Marcel Reese are expected to receive the bulk of the work against the Ravens.

High ankle injuries are notoriously painful to deal with and difficult to recover from.

Goodson hasn't practiced with the team since he went down in Week 9 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It's unknown when he will be able to walk without the aid of his protective boot, and depending on how severe his sprain is, it might be a few weeks before he's ready for in-game action.

The Raiders need Goodson back in the lineup as soon as possible, though.

Though he hasn't received many carries, his production when given a chance has been excellent. So far this season, Goodson has rushed for 111 yards on 17 carries (6.3 yards per carry), has caught 14 passes for 173 yards and one touchdown and hasn't turned the ball over once.

With eight games left on the schedule, the Raiders are just two games behind the Pittsburgh Steelers and Indianapolis Colts for one of the two wild-card spots in the playoffs. It's time for the team to get healthy in a hurry, or a second-half surge may be out of the question.
