Wherever they do pick in the first round, they had better not grab a running back. They already have one.
I'm not referring to Darren McFadden. While he is a talented player, he can't seem to shake the injury bug.
No, I'm insinuating that Marcel Reece is a NFL feature back. Flat out, he's a good football player.
Let's check out his fantasy value now and going forward this season.
Fantasy Outlook
After not giving Reece a single carry for the first eight weeks, it seems the Raiders are finally learning about the other player they have in the backfield.
In the last three games, Reece has toted the rock 47 times and responded with 227 yards. That's 4.7 yards per carry, which is good for anybody, much less a third-string tailback.
He hasn't been able to find the end zone, though. However, that's a product of the sad-sack franchise that employs him. Since the Raiders are never in a game for very long, they are constantly throwing the ball in an effort to catch up.
Obviously, with fewer carries, Reece's odds of producing touchdowns will drop. On the plus side, the Raiders still have games against four weak opponents, meaning Oakland will be able to stick with the run for longer periods of time.
It should be noted that Reece, with 41 receptions thus far, is an excellent pass-catcher. So even though he doesn't bring in the touchdowns, he does haul in the points in PPR leagues.
Analysis
Reece has become a surefire No. 2 running back or flex play that is bordering on first-back status. He just needs to start scoring touchdowns to bolster those healthy rushing and receiving yardage totals.
